FAQ

  • If you scan the QR code, you can check the mill sheet issued by POSCO. The mill sheet records the results of various experiments to confirm the properties of materials, and is a product certificate provided by the metal product manufacturer (POSCO). All properly manufactured metals worldwide have this mill sheet. In the case of some Chinese-made products, there are cases where they state they use Stainless Steel 304 from Germany or Italy but say they do not have a mill sheet. If there is no mill sheet, it is not a proper product. If the mill sheet and the raw materials are different, you can be accused of fraud, and someone must be held accountable.
MOM’S STEEL purchases raw materials directly from POSCO and receives mill sheets, so we can disclose them with confidence.
  • MOM’S STEEL conducted the test by the standard test method (KSMISO 22196) through the Korea Standard Test Researcher (KSTR).
If you look at products labeled as 99.9% antibacterial, most of them are the results of self-testing through a method that can only yield 99.9% antibacterial activity, or they presented a certificate from “XXX test researcher,” but when you search the Internet, a researcher with that name may not exist. In addition, in order to produce a report with 99.9% antibacterial activity, there are cases in which the company has established itself as a “XXX test researcher” and created a report.
Unless it is a disinfectant, it is very difficult to obtain 99.9% antibacterial activity by standard test methods.
MOM’S STEEL is currently exporting stainless steel cutting boards, and has been issued an antibacterial test report of the antibacterial standard (KSMISO 22196) test method and an antimold test report of the antimold standard (ASTM G 21) in English to provide it to buyers.
  • Upon inquiring at the “1381 Certification Standards Information Center,” which is operated by the country and provides information on all domestic certifications, we were informed that stainless steel cutting boards do not have a certification system in Korea as of yet. However, we also inquired directly to the KC certification body and received an answer that there is no KC certification system for stainless steel cutting boards and therefore it cannot be tested for certification. As a result of direct inquiries to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, we received the answer that there is no certification system for stainless steel cutting boards. For imported products, when they are first imported, they only give sales permission through simple hazardous substance inspection, but do not provide separate certification. For domestic products, they only need to be marked as stainless steel and sold.
  • It is true that a cutting board made of stainless steel generates noise due to collision with a knife compared to a normal cutting board.
The degree to which noise is felt differs not only according to ones cutting habit and auditory sensitivity, but also according to repulsion due to unfamiliarity.
In reviews, some people say “it feels classy” while others say “the sound is annoying.” However, it’s a companion that will be responsible for the hygiene of you and your family for a lifetime, so give yourself some time to adjust.
  • Stainless steel cutting boards are of material that does not emit color or odor from food, but scratches may occur due to the use of knives or other tools. It is shipped in very pretty condition at first, so even the smallest of scratches may hurt your heart, but try to think of it as evidence of time spent for the sake of your family’s cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Your knife will become dull if you cut the same way you would cut on a normal cutting board. In the case of a typical cutting board, oftentimes you cut ingredients with more force than necessary because it is difficult to know if the ingredients are well cut. When cutting ingredients on a stainless steel cutting board, you will find that you don’t need to apply extra force as you can feel the knife and the cutting board come into contact. When you get used to it to some extent, it will be difficult to feel the difference with a normal cutting board when it comes to the knife becoming dull.
  • The largest M size weighs 1.8kg, lighter than a 2L water bottle, but it may feel heavier because it is metal.
“MOM’S STEEL Antibacterial+ Stainless Steel Cutting Board” is made with a thickness of 2mm. Reducing the thickness a little can not only reduce weight, but also reduce material costs. However, it can be easily bent, making it difficult to use. There is also risk of injury if the cutting board is pushed around when preparing ingredients, or there may be difficulties in preparing ingredients, so it is manufactured with a stable weight.
  • Internally within the company, the side with the QR code is designated as the front side, but both sides can be used. The entire board is Antibacterial+ 304 stainless steel. Even if it wears out, the antibacterial and anti-fungal properties do not decrease.
